Great excitement around Dungannon Summer Festival
Dungannon Park are celebrating their 25 birthday with a four day festival with Free Admission to all the events!
There will be a first ever Proms in Dungannon Park, compered by Noel Thompson with the fabulous Celtic Tenors, who have established themselves as the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland Our local artistes the very popular Gemma Prince, Soprano from Dungannon graduated from The Royal Northern College of Music with a Masters in Vocal and Opera Studies. Gemma was a Young Artist with NI Opera and performed in the Mac Theatre in Belfast and The Southbank Centre, London in NI Opera Shorts – five contemporary operas composed by Northern Irish composers. Local Baritone Karl MC Guckin began his training in classical music under the tutelage of Dr Veronica Dunne in The Royal Irish Academy of Music. Since then Karl has sung with a number of critically acclaimed opera companies across the British Isles but now finds himself more regularly on the musical theatre stage. Having become a regular feature in the musical theatre circuit in Belfast and Dublin.
Also performing is Arco String Quartet, regarded as Ireland’s leading professional, vibrant and most successful string quartet. All the players, members of The Ulster Orchestra and the finest players in Ireland, are graduates from the world’s leading conservatoires.
They have spent the last 11 years performing together and developing the perfect blend and style that has gained them the reputation that they have today.
Then on Sunday what a line up there is for this big Birthday Party celebrating Dungannon Park’s 25th Birthday in the afternoon of 24th August.
Activities include Junk Orchestra, Scallywags Space wars, Hip Hop Dance, Hansel & Gretel comedy Theatre, Cahoots Children’s Theatre
Victorian Old Time Toys and Games… not to forget the big birthday cake!
Those were the days… remember HOT CHOCOLATE, one of the most famous bands from the 70’s, well they are coming to Dungannon Park on Bank Holiday Monday – so come along and sing the old favourites’ It started with a Kiss’, Everyone’s a Winner, ‘You Sexy thing’
Get the old bell bottoms and big collar shirts out of the wardrobe to cap a memorable weekend of entertainment!
