Omagh’s Conor O’Donnell is Tyrone Player of the Year as Tyrone Gaels celebrate 2017 success at Teamtalkmag Gala

The stars of Tyrone Gaelic Games converged once again tonight for what has been the biggest TYRONE GAA Night of the year for well over a decade. The brilliant Teamtalkmag Tyrone GAA All Stars again hosted a sell out crowd in the Great Northern Hotel this evening.

Once again with the most distinguished label of “Supporting and Promoting ALL Gaelic Games in Tyrone”, the team at Teamtalkmag again went beyond the call of duty with a fantastic evening for Tyrone gaels.

On the night there were again a long list of prestigious Award Winners, highlighting outstanding achievements in gaelic games in 2017. There was an added cheer as O’Neill’s Sport’s Director, Kieran Kennedy, gifted everyone in the Audience a new-look Tyrone GAA Football Jersey, launched earlier this week.

Omagh’s Conor O’Donnell and Coalisland’s Padraig Hampsey were two of the big winners at a packed Teamtalkmag Tyrone GAA All-Star Awards Gala Banquet in Bundoran

Coalisland’s Padraig Hampsey saw a brilliant season in the Tyrone jersey honoured as he picked up the “County Footballer of the Year” accolade while Errigal Ciaran’s rising star and attacking sensation, Darragh Canavan was named the “Young Footballer of the Year”, having starred in major title wins for Errigal Ciaran Minors, Tyrone Under 17s and with St. Ciaran’s College.

The Ladies football arena saw St. Macartan’s duo, Niamh McGirr and Chloe McCaffrey, honoured with the footballer of the Year and Young Footballer award respectively while Castlederg’s Shannon Lynch was a popular winner of the Ladies County Footballer of the Year. Aoibhinn McHugh and Claire McAliskey celebrated again as they were selected as Intermediate and Junior Player of the Year winners respectively, following title winning seasons with Aghyaran and Clonoe.

In Hurling the Eire Og Club celebrated a double on the night too with Conor Grogan and Jarlath Kerr picking up the two major gongs on the night while Roisin McErlean and Ciara Donnelly claimed the prestigious Camogie Awards.

GAA Handball Award winners on the night went to Conor McElduff, who broke a series of records on the national and international courts in 2017 while Carrickmore’s Lorcan McBride was the Young Handballer of the Year.

There were also a few special awards on the night too as Mickey Moyna, who has devoted over 3 decades to the County teams, was awarded the Services to GAA, Seamus McNelis of Eskra, and now Fulham Irish, given an International Recognition Award and Kieran Eanetta was awarded as Referee of the Year.

In the All-Star Mens Football Team there were 9 Clubs represented with 6 awards for Omagh, 2 for Errigal Ciaran and 1 each for Coalisland, Pomeroy, Owen Roes, Derrylaughan, Ardboe, Moy and Tattyreagh.

What has been a most emotional year for the brilliant Omagh St. Enda’s full-forward, Conor O’Donnell, concluded tonight with a much deserved “Teamtalkmag Tyrone GAA Player of the Year” Award for 2017.
