Over 500 compete in annual New Year’s Eve Lough5 Race
Over 500 runners and walkers took part in the now well established annual Lough5 Race and Walk in Loughmacrory on New Year’s Eve with a great atmosphere as everyone prepared to bring in the New Year.
Overall it proved to be another very successful event with a new winner of the race in Stephen Prentice from Annadale Striders, with a time of 26.24 for the 5 mile route. Paul Barber from Omagh Harriers came in a close second on the day with a time of 26.40 and Michael Murphy from the City of Derry Spartans club was third with a time of 28.00.
First in the Ladies Open Category was Briege Connolly from North Belfast Harriers with an impressive time of 29.22.
From a large local participation it was Ciaran Meenagh who came in first with a time of 33.33, just two seconds ahead of Shane Dobbs who had a time of 33.35.

Overall it was another great occasion to bring the curtain down on what has been a hugely progressive and active calendar year for the Loughmacrory community and augurs well for a host of events and activities again in 2015!
