Tyrone set for rematch with Dublin in NFL in Omagh on February 3rd 2018

The back to back Ulster Senior champions, Tyrone enjoyed a terrific start to their NFL Division 1 campaign in 2017 and will continue the focus in that domain when the new campaign gets underway in 2018.

While there was evidently considerable disappointment at how the championship came to a clsoe for the O’Neill County in 2017, with an emphatic defeat at the hands of three-in-a-row All Ireland Senior Champions, Dublin, it should be remembered that 2017 was another exciting year for Tyrone.

Peter Harte had an outstanding season for Tyrone in 2017 and REed Hand gaels will be hoping for more of the same in 2018

There was the two-in-a-row in the Ulster Senior Championship and that means a potential first ever 3-in-a-row in the Anglo Celt Cup race for the Red Hand County in 2018. The news that Mickey Harte is staying on as manager and will do so for another three seasons was welcomed in most quarters and certainly augurs well for what can be expected in the years ahead.

As for 2018 well another big challenge for National League success will get underway with a tough away trip to take on Galway on Saturday 27th January. What follows next is sure to see a near capacity crowd at Healy Park in Omagh, as Tyrone will cross swords again with all Ireland Champions, Dublin on Saturday 3rd February.

To close out the league Tyrone will also be at home with the visit of 2017 National League Champions, Kerry, with the Kingdom of course having inflicted a first defeat on Dublin nand preventing them from winning an unheralded five in a row in the league series.

Tyrone will have three home NFL ties at Omagh overall against Dublin, Donegal and Kerry with four away fixtures against Galway, Kildare, Monaghan and Mayo. All opening 6 rounds of the National League will take place on Saturdays.

The Division 1 football final is set to be played on April, 1, with the hurling equivalent due to take place a week or two earlier.
